Checking hearing aids before fitting is important for both preprogrammed and programmable hearing aids.
Before fitting the hearing aid, check the hearing aid:

All six Ling sounds should be clear when checking the hearing aid with a listening tube.

Check hearing aid with a listening tube
Preparar:
- Insert hearing aid battery in the battery door
- Turn on the hearing aid
- Start with the volume turned down
- Connect the listening tube to the ear hook of the hearing aid
- Insert the earpiece of the listening tube in your ear
- Gradually increase volume until the sound level is comfortable.
Check hearing aid:
- Hold the hearing aid 30 centimetres away from your mouth
- Perform the six Ling sounds with a normal speaking voice

If you can hear all six Ling sounds clearly with no feedback (whistling) the hearing aid is working properly.
If you cannot hear all six Ling sounds clearly, return the hearing aid to the supplier and get another hearing aid.
