Vision AP includes different products used to assist someone who has difficulty seeing.
Vision AP can be divided into three groups:
AP that help correct or improve vision
AP that supports the use of other senses
AP that helps someone with low or no vision move about.
Read on to find out which AP is included in TAP. For each AP mentioned, there is a module describing how to provide it using the GATE 4 step process.
AP to correct or improve vision
AP that can help to correct or improve vision included in TAP are:
Lunettes de lecture
Magnifying glasses
Telescopes
Note: Prescription glasses are an important vision AP that helps correct or improve vision. Prescription glasses are not included in TAP because they should be prescribed by people with formal training beyond the scope of TAP.
Meet Malik
Malik is a tailor. He uses reading glasses to read tales to his grandson and to sew.
Meet Ying
Ying works in an office. She wears prescription glasses which do not fully correct her vision. She uses a hand-held magnifier to see things up close.
Braille stylus and slate
Audio player
AP to support the use of other senses
AP that supports the use of other senses included in TAP are:
Braille stylus, which is a portable tool used by people who read braille, to write and read braille.
Audio players that allow people to hear written text
Talking and touching watches that enable people to either hear or feel the time.
AP to help move about
AP that helps someone with low, or no vision move about included in TAP is:
