Correct fit: walking frames and rollators

The width of walking frames and rollators should be comfortable.

Sofia walking with her rollator.

Remember Cali and Sofia?

When using their walking aids, Cali and Sofia both have relaxed shoulders and slightly bent elbows. The handgrips are at wrist level and their arms are a comfortable width apart.

Watch the video to see how to adjust a rollator. A walking frame can be adjusted following the same process.

Other adjustments

There are sometimes other small adjustments that can be made to walking aids such as adding extra padding to hand grips or axilla pads

Cali with her walking frame with padded hand grips.

Cali found her hands hurt when she first used the walking frame. Now it is much easier to use after some foam padding was added to the hand grips.
