Walking aid sizes

Walking aids are usually available in one or two different height ranges.

Rollators, walking frames and posterior walkers are usually available in different widths.

Now is a good time to look closely at the walking aids available to you.
This activity would be good to do in a group; however you can also do it on your own.

Activity

For each type of walking aid you have available:

Step 1

Adjust the walking aid to:

  • Maximum height
  • Minimum height

Tip: walking aids can be adjusted in different ways:

    • Releasing a push pin
    • Removing screws
    • Cutting (only for wooden devices such as walking sticks)

Step 2

Note the range of adjustment.

Tip: this will be the distance between the minimum and maximum height

Step 3

For the rollators, walking frames and posterior walkers that you may have available, find out if they have any width adjustment.

Step 4

If you have any questions about adjusting this walking aid you may wish to post this question to the course forum.
