Fitting an around the neck magnifier

Lesson: 3 of 6
Topic: 2 of 2
0% Complete

To fit an around the neck magnifier, ask the person to:

  1. Place the magnifier around their neck with the cord loose, and the stand resting against their chest.
  2. Hold the object to be magnified under the magnifier at a comfortable height. The person may like to move the object closer and further away to test the most comfortable position.
  3. Slowly lift the magnifier away from the object towards their eyes, and ask them to notice how the object looks bigger.
  4. Tell the person to keep going until the point is reached where the image is clearest for them, then fix the cord around their neck at this level.

A woman wearing spectacles has an around the neck magnifier resting on her chest, with strings around her neck supporting it. She is holding it with her right hand and moving it towards her eyes. In her left hand she is holding a circle of embroidery, which she is moving downwards.

Activity

If around the neck magnifiers are available, practise fitting one with a friend or colleague.
