Module structure
TAP modules are in six streams:
- Cognition
- Communication
- Vision
- Hearing
- Self-care
- Mobility.
Each stream has an introduction module, followed by product modules.
To use TAP always:
- Complete the Introduction to assistive products module first
- Complete the introduction module for each stream before taking product modules from that stream.
Module content
TAP modules are designed to be taken at the learner’s pace. The amount of time needed varies from 1 – 4 hours depending on the module and the learner.
Modules include:
- A quiz before and after the module
- Text, illustrations and videos
- Downloadable assistive product screening and assessment forms, key words and key messages summaries
- Interactive questions and activities
- A discussion forum for sharing of experiences and to ask questions.
TAP learners will benefit from mentors who can:
- Prepare the products and other resources needed to take each module
- Provide support and coordinate peer discussion as learners go through each module
- Set up supervised sessions for practicing and developing skills.
TAP delivery
TAP is a flexible modular training resource that can be tailored to support local health systems and training for assistive technology provision. This is achieved by blending online learning with clinical practice, supported by local mentors to build competencies for the referral and provision of assistive products. The role of local mentors is:
- Prepare the products and other resources needed to take each module
- Provide support and coordinate peer discussion as learners go through each module
- Set up supervised sessions for practicing and developing skills.
TAP delivery requires service systems to be in place, including a supply of assistive products. The TAP platform includes supporting resources for anyone who is coordinating TAP delivery (such as service managers, clinical leads, educators, implementing agencies) to support implementation into existing services.

TAP Certificates
A Certificate of Completion can be downloaded at the end of each module. You must complete the module and score above 60% in the post-module quiz.
