Preprogrammed hearing aids

This module introduces how to provide hearing aids. It teaches primary health care and community workers to provide preprogrammed hearing aids for adults following four service steps.

Module duration:  3.5 hours online, followed by supervised practice.

Before you start, check that you have completed these modules:

Resources you will need

Hearing test:

  • Audiometer and noise cancelling headphones
  • Quiet room
  • Selection of preprogrammed hearing aids, including different sizes of earmoulds and spare batteries

Hearing aid fitting:

  • Earmoulds in different sizes
  • Spare earmould tube
  • Scissors
  • Pen

Hearing aid checks/care:

  • Listening tube (stetoclip)
  • Cleaning kit including brush, wire and cloth
  • Container with soapy water and paper towel to clean and dry earmould head
  • Hearing aid storage (dehumidifier container)
