Activities that are difficult

Instruction

Ask the person: What activities do you find difficult because of your vision?

Write their answer in the space provided on the form.

Understanding what the person wants to do will help you think about the type of product that may be suitable.

Activities using distance or near vision

Instruction

Ask the person: Do these activities need distance or near vision?

Telescopes assist with distance vision activities, and magnifiers assist with near vision activities. Some people may require both a telescope and a magnifier.

Activities that require hands to be free

Instruction

Ask the person: Do these activities need your hands to be free?

Handheld magnifiers and telescopes are not appropriate for activities that require the hands to be free.

Stand magnifiers, sheet magnifiers with adjustable stands, or around the neck magnifiers (or dome magnifiers in some cases) may be suitable.

Ability to use hands

Instruction

Ask the person: Can you use your hands easily?

Handheld magnifiers and telescopes are not appropriate for people that cannot use their hands easily.

Stand magnifiers (and dome magnifiers in some cases) may be suitable.
